EDIT [April 13 2014]

The game is in .rar format and will require a program like winRAR to open/extract.

So What's New?

- Changing Formation bugs out the cut scenes. [FIXED - Formation feature REMOVED]
- Image overlay issues in the Foyer of the house (futons do not comply with the lighting) [NOT FIXED]
- Parallax mapping issue with the Lounge room Herb Vase (can't walk behind it due to creator failing at mapping correctly) [NOT FIXED]
- Image overlays don't shake when the map is being shaked (this is unavoidable due to coding issues) [CANNOT BE FIXED]
- Speeding through dialogue may cause cinematic movements to stop prematurely. [AMENDING]
- Mention of NPCs before NPCs are introduced. [AMENDING]
- Lighting Errors regarding Night-Vision Mode (Please be careful with saving when this is in use, can cause a lot of problems!)

I have posted a video that shows clips of the demo + content that is not part of the demo. You can find the short 5-minute video here:

Please make sure your volume isn't too loud, the audio is really strange at times.

This is a DEMO, and a very short one at that!
Yes it's not August, but the trend of my attention span demands I release it before I decide to drop it entirely.

Please do not redistribute the game or upload the CGs or facesets, though why would you, they're not that special

you will need to download the RTP for RPG Maker VX Ace, or you will not be able to play the game at all

Please, if you find any bugs, audio glitches, or the like, please tell me (and I'll reply whether it was intentional or a genuine bug) That also goes for typo's, dialogue overflows and grammatical errors (if you're American, I'll forwarn my use of British/Australian spelling).
I also apologise if the dialogue feels really, really vague - it's supposed to make a lot more sense in the larger scheme of things. So far there are two splits in the story that you can play (though they're only at the very end of the demo), so if you get one road, have a go at playing through the other.

Please Note:
:bulletred: Explore everything thoroughly.
:bulletred: Check your items when you get something new
:bulletred: the fridge

Future Developments:
:bulletgreen: More uses for the video camera (such as changing to night-vision mode to see/avoid unseen dangers)
:bulletgreen: More story!
:bulletgreen: More horror!

:hmm: Anyway, play, enjoy, leave a comment and favourite!

Parallax Lock Script - Yanfly
Tilesets - Celianna, JunjouFangirl1221, painhurt, Supergodjesus

If anyone else decides to make playthroughs, please share me the link and I'll add it up here. Be sure you've credited the game before doing so.

Hello, I just played the II Demo, and I'm here to read if all of the bugs are added! Yes, I see you have added the bug concerning the painting 'Trapped Woman'. Though she spoke when I chose Alfred (and it was such a mess to decide on that).

Other than that, I don't understand anything about this 'night vision' stuff.

(Spoiler alert, maybe)

Though there's this weird bug happened, hopefully I don't spoil much here; After the event where we found the strange note and returned to the corridor, they heard dragging noise, right? Well, I was dumb, so I thought that voice came from the attic. So I returned to the attic, and everything went dark completely, I thought it was lag, but when I pressed 'esc', it worked. I tried to move around and found the stairs down. The corridor (with the Illusion painting) was also completely dark it took several minutes for me to get out to the corridor with the Wendigo painting. Is this what you mean night vision? I don't know.

Oh, and the fully playable ending! I don't know if I got it, because I played all the way to that last event with the mirror (that needed to be wiped) and after that the game ended saying that I need to wait for the next update. That wasn't the fully playable ending, right...? Please tell me it's not, so I can play it again and get that ending ;_;

Other than that, hopefully you'll enjoy this review!

I love the set-up, characters and illustrations! Even for initial demo, this looks really promising. It amuses me how the surrounding can be really creepy, but funny. I love Nirrini. I feel safe when I near the fridge XD It's really entertaining and thrilling. It can be creepy, scary, creepily funny, and the paintings are just somehow lovable for me.

I also love how Arthur is somehow portrayed as the 'Everyman' type of character (you know, a character that could be anyone) but at the same time, he's also 'Arthur', it can't be just anyone. The interaction between each other are also pretty interesting. It's also somewhat like playing a dating sims, so I really enjoyed re-playing and choosing different responses. It doesn't tire me out, but skip button can help, I guess.

Oh, may I ask why is it so significant to go through the item, select the camera in order to save? Not complaining, just curious. I guess you might want to make something different, but it can be a bit inefficient when it should be easy. Oh, but I don't mind, since I also find it interesting.

How Alfred started this all is so typical of him. He still can't read the mood sometimes XD I was laughing so much when Kiku said that Nirrina is like Alfred's Christmas Cake, only livelier. His face was worthless. I even had to printscreen it. Though I still didn't get the chance to use his new skill yet D:

Overall, as I said, this looks very promising, interesting. Details are put quite nicely for the items in the house. Characters are amusing. CGs are splendid. Story is superbly curious. Horror is just perfect, not too much but not too weak. I hope this helps in any way possible. Good work so far! Keep it up, do your best~!

First of all, thank you so very much for taking the time to play and write such a detailed review and bug report - not enough thank yous could ever be given.
Those bugs, I am very well aware of and are minor coding errors that I overlooked when first programming. The Attic going dark isn't meant to happen, as the player is supposed to travel downstairs to the second floor, not upstairs, so the fade-screen never triggers when the player goes into the Attic again.
The playable ending is if you send Alfred to collect the ingredients for the potion and fail at the final maze. There are events that follow the player's failure of the mission that create the ending.
The mirror part was one of the two unfinished routes. Tell me what you think of the ending if you playthrough it again ;-)
I'm so pleased that you love and have enjoyed my demo - it means a whole lot to me. You're not the first to have brought up the camera issue, and I'll be working on making it easier - perhaps moving the camera option to the main menu after the initial use of it.

There's a lot more in store for the future updates, and I intend to finish the game over the summer break if I can - I want to have it done before I enter second year of university ^^;

Thanks a thousand times for taking the time to play and review; I look forward to seeing you at the full update.

No problem, there's no need to thank me! :icontinoplz:

I really enjoy it, and I'm so grateful for the Ending Access. I never lose when I played Alfred in the maze, so I've already got two of the unfinished routes. But I was so surprised that it brought me to a slightly longer story when I finally made Alfred lose on purpose, so exciting! XD This demo is already filled with so many curious secrets, it's really impressive and well-thought of you. It makes me feel like anything can happen.

By the way, I'm not sure if it's going to be too soon to ask this, but for the parts where Arthur has to choose how to respond, I tried so many combinations and so far I only saw eight illustrations (including the phone and Nirinni) did I miss something? And for the
Sympathy and Critical response, does it affect anything in the demo? I mean, it might affect the longer game, but who knows? Your demo is very detailed, I'm wondering if I miss something.

One last you plan to make a gallery after the game ends that shows the collection of illustrations we've seen? :3

It's great that you plan to finish it before the second year! Doing the best you can is enough for me, so take your time, I guess? :D It's a game filled with my favorite pairings and characters, I don't mind the wait. Francis said that the longer you wait, the better wine will taste.

Oh, and if you don't mind, here! Cyber bear hug! *squeeze* :iconanimehugplz: Thanks for being awesome! Prussia approves!  :iconyayprussiagilbirdplz:

There aren't many CGs in the demo, and the choices you make in-game currently don't affect much besides a few subtle dialogue differences. I'll try to make them have more of an effect at some point but it's a lot of planning... :meow:
If I figure out the coding/find a simple code that I can make a gallery, yeah I will, otherwise I'll post a huge collection on dA for everyone.
I'll do what I can though ^^;

Wait, about the night vision stuff, I already got it, sorry! By the way...I finally got that one illustration when...he...and he...and I faint and almost died from sheer happiness. I was like; "Dude! What are you doing!? But I don't mind, like, I actually love it, but still, what the heck!?"

I think you're going to turn into an angel and go to heaven, because you're the best.

Okay. I've met the Sprite and opened the rusty lock. the note mentioned laundry-I checked but just tells me its laundry- doesn't do much for me.  Is it possibly a bug or am I just stupid?
