For the people who have stuck around this long, who've followed my comic through the many periods of inactivity and seen the leaps and bounds in the quality, storytelling and so forth; I want to thank you for your ever loving support and dedication to sticking by me.
When I started The Splintered Path of Fate it was a whimsy spur of the moment thing where I really wanted to give Zero a different ending and future from how it ended in the manga (and to an extent the movie too). It's been my pride and joy since its conception in 2011 and few people can really say they've stuck by a project for like, 10-years, with only a tiny pool of supporters.
But 10-years is also a big period of time in which people grow. People change. And most importantly people learn. I wasn't nearly as aware or educated as I am today when I started this comic and it shows in my storytelling and in my choice of character portrayals. Needless to say, it's aged poorly and I've come to realise that there are many things in tSPoF that are problematic. These are not small things either and despite my recent editing of the dialogue in the comic to be more appropriate of the context, there are things that cannot be easily changed.
I love Lysander with my whole heart, but I cannot go on blindly thinking that it'll be okay to keep her the way she is. She's one of my favourite OCs, but she can be better. I can certainly do better.
No one has specifically come to call me out on it; this has come about from some self-reflection and re-evaluation of my content in recent months. I do want to offer my sincerest apologies if my comic has in any way offended or upset anyone. I was very ignorant. Like I said, 10-years is a long time and a lot has changed.
As such, I've come to the decision to discontinue the comic.
Is this the end? In some ways, perhaps. But recently I've started working on my fanfiction for Nanu & my OC Siane and I fully intended their story to overlap with parts of The Splintered Path of Fate. So what happens now? I have hopes to write a novelisation of tSPoF, but with all the changes I couldn't make to the comic. This will become the new canon. I don't have an ETA on when this will happen, but if you've been here for the comic, then you already know what I'm like with schedules. I'm a wheneverly type of creator.
That's all I have folks.
Take care 'n I'll see you all around.
